Effective Appraisals
Course Objectives
The appraisal interview is a real opportunity for managers to have a constructive discussion with the members of their team. Handled well, the discussion can help to review progress, set objectives and improve motivation. Handled badly, it can leave the team member feeling unappreciated, lacking in direction, and consequently de-motivated.
This seminar will enable delegates to practise – through role- play, feedback and discussion – the real skills of researching, preparing for, and conducting an effective appraisal interview. By the end of the seminar they will understand the purpose of the appraisal process, and their role and responsibilities as an appraiser; be able to plan and structure a review; give clear and specific feedback; define areas for development and set clear objectives; tackle poor performance and sensitive issues effectively; and know how to conduct appraisals confidently and professionally.
