Course Description
This course is designed for new or recently appointed managers, team leaders or supervisors, or those who have been in post for some time who have not had the opportunity to take a look at their leadership role.
The aim is to help delegates improve and build their confidence in their leadership skills.
By the end of the course, delegates will
- understand the balance between managing the task and leading people
- have identified their personal leadership style and its implications for their work
- have learned how to make the right choices when managing people
- have built skills in the management of change
- gain confidence in how to communicate with their team
- have a practical action plan for thier personal development

- model of action-centred leadership
- setting goals and monitoring performance
- giving and receiving feedback
- how to stay in control and do what's important
- assertiveness: firm on issues, gentle on people
- making recommendations that people will listen to
- listening and questioning skills
Training Methods
The course will be active, participative and practical, including a self- assessment questionnaire, reflective exercises and skills practice, as well as input on key leadership skills.
Duration: Available as a one day and two day programme, depending on your requirements. It is also available for One-to-One training.
